Want to learn more about your environment?
Take the class “Toxnet® & Beyond” at the Annual Meeting of the Mid-Continental Chapter of MLA in Breckenridge, CO. Learn the basics of searching the National Library of Medicine's Toxnet®, a web-based system of databases in toxicology, environmental health and related fields.
This class will be offered Monday, Sept. 21, from 10 am to 5 pm.
Sharon Brown and Maureen Czujak of the NN/LM National Training Center and Clearinghouse will instruct.
Students have said:
“I enjoyed it and will, in turn, present info to my scientists.”
“This was so informative and eye opening. The [TOXNET] decision tree… great to decide which [database] to use, and to interpret which source will really answer my patrons’ questions.”
“Jaunty instructors with deep and immediate recall knowledge of material.”
“I needed an introduction and overview and got a great start with the tools, understanding the lay of the land, etc.”
“Both the presenters were very approachable and had great senses of humor.”
“My learning is greater with hands on. Performing actual searches was very helpful.”
Description: Scientists, Government workers, Librarians and anyone curious about the world we live in will learn to unlock environmental secrets from the TOXNET® databases, including TOXLINE, the Hazardous Substances Data Bank, the Integrated Risk Information System, the Toxics Release Inventory, and ChemIDplus. Full Description
