MCMLA 2009: September To Do list
MCMLA 2009 Annual Meeting - September To Do List:
1. Plan to take time to see the Aspen trees - According to New CBS News Travel Editor Peter Greenberg: Colorado is one of the Surprising Spots To See Great Fall Foliage (Not much of a surprise to Coloradoans, though!). See http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/09/07/earlyshow/living/travel/main5291734.shtml for more. An excerpt:
"Colorado is known for its aspen trees-nearly 2 million acres in all-which change into a brilliant, vibrant gold in the fall. The change happens very quickly, but not at the same time all around Colorado (remember, it starts at the higher elevations first). So a good tip is to book your travel to Colorado, and then follow the color once you get there. Northwest-Aspen, Grand Junction. Visit in mid-September, where the most popular viewing spot is probably Maroon Bells at Maroon Lake. If arriving into Denver, the drive west from Twin Lakes to Aspen over Independence Pass for some of the most scenic views in the state."
2. REGISTER! We still have room for you! Go to http://a3.acteva.com/orderbooking/go/mcmla2009 to register today .
3. Make your Green Fleet arrangements! Jerry Carlson (our Green Meeting coordinator - gmc@pvhs.org) has organized a "Green Fleet" for transportation -- check out the Express or the MCMLA 2009 website for information. If you are renting a car and want to rideshare, or are local and want to offer rides -- please see Jerry's instructions.
4. Pack for Fall weather - Dress in layers to be most comfortable in Colorado's mountains. The daytime temps during our meeting should be in the 60-70 degree range, with lots of sunshine. You'll want a jacket or sweater once the sun sets, as temperatures can drop to the 40s at night. See http://breckenridge.snow.com/mtn.weather.asp for current weather information.
5. Plan to check out Breckenridge's Restaurants and Bars - You'll have lots of choice from casual to elegant, vegetarian to steak, for your dining adventures. See the flash map at http://breckenridge.snow.com/media/swf/resortmap/flashmap.asp . We'll be in the "Historic District". Select the Dining tab to see restaurants.
